Private mode loads a self-hosted FFmpeg WebAssembly engine after you request it and processes the video on this device without uploading the file. Server mode uploads only the selected video for a bounded native FFmpeg request and uses a temporary workspace with best-effort cleanup.
Private mode requires WebAssembly, a web worker, sufficient device memory, and a one-time engine download; it can take substantially longer than native server processing, particularly on phones. The crop is centered to the selected aspect ratio, re-encodes the video, and may remove important edge content. Server mode uploads the file temporarily.
